Well y’all already know that today is NYE so of course I’m turnt up about A NEW YEAR!! 2020 here we come! This is part two of my prep for the new year, so if you missed part one then go and check it out HERE.
I don’t make resolutions. Instead a few years ago I began thinking through a vision for my life and listing goals for the year to get me closer to that vision. I was going to write a generic post about developing a vision (board) and the importance of SMART goals, but then I decided to be a little transparent and share a part of my personal 2020 prep.
Because I’m a competitive person who refuses to fail. Accountability. I know when I share some things publicly I’m more likely to actually do it because I WILL NOT FAIL. I have friends who will check me hard, and remind me of the things that I said I would do.
2020 VISION (pun intended)
I’ve had some setbacks and successes this year. I accomplished some milestones, like paying off student loan debt, but also missed the mark on some career goals. So as I reflected on each area of my life, I noticed that there have been significant ups and downs over the last two years, much of which hasn’t been addressed. Thus, this year will be all about the reset.
Spiritual – the plan to move Hopewell with me has been a complete fail 🤷🏾♀️🙄🙃😐😂🤣😂🤣
Professional – y’all this tenure clock is ticking…fast…
Personal – past time for a hobby…will it be a new language, finally learning an instrument or using this sewing machine that’s collecting dust?
Health & fitness – relearning what foods are right for my body as it keeps changing what it wants to digest or not
Relationships – life is about people…nurture the connections I have and stop feeling guilty about the friends that needed to go
Financial – we building an empire over here… #debtfree #financialfreedom #kingdombuilding
Entrepreneurial – multiple streams of income…
I have dreams that it’s time to realize. I have ideas that need to be brought to reality. I have hobbies that have been on my to do/learn list. I have goals that it’s time to revisit in every area of my life.
Now to sit down and work on writing out these specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely (SMART) goals. Well, at least smart & measurable…because the way my God works, some of my goals are usually a bit far reaching that don’t seem to be quite attainable nor realistic when solely measuring them based on my current situation. For example, one of my 2018 goals was to go to Ghana for free. My prayer partners thought I was crazy, but they prayed with me anyway. And although the trip wasn’t completely free, it is STILL unbelievable how it came about. BUT it is even more so unbelievable how that one goal/prayer request led to answers for other prayers. All of this to say – Reflect & Pray. Make reasonable Goals BUT also dream a bit and set some goals that may not look like you can fully realize them without some help, then ask for that help. But do your part.
Happy New Year! 🎊🎆🥳
