Leadership Lesson #27: Dream Big

The simplest definition of leadership is influencing others to do something while working towards a common goal or agenda. In 2022, I’m focusing on becoming a better leader in all areas of my life. As I grow, I’m sharing lessons and stories along the way. Thanks for tuning in and I hope something I share resonates with you in your leadership (influence) journey. 

Dreaming big is a necessary component to growth. It allows you to stretch yourself and reach for something that may seem unattainable. However, as you dream big, you cultivate the process of thinking, speaking and doing. Actions are driven from thoughts. So the first key step for any leader to accomplish something extraordinary is to think about what you want to see or do. And usually that first thought isn’t big enough yet. Once you have a big dream, it’s time to share it with a trusted person or small group where it can begin to take shape. From there, you can devise a plan to put the dream into action through small, consistent steps. 

  • What are you dreaming about? 
  • Who is your trusted source to share your dreams with?
  • What steps can you take to putting the dream into action?
  • Who will you be accountable to?
