Leadership Lesson #19: A Multitude of Counsel

The simplest definition of leadership is influencing others to do something while working towards a common goal or agenda. In 2022, I’m focusing on becoming a better leader in all areas of my life. As I grow, I’m sharing lessons and stories along the way. Thanks for tuning in and I hope something I share resonates with you in your leadership (influence) journey.

Inevitably, as a leader, there will be times when you will need to hear perspectives from others concerning decisions. Gaining insight from someone in a different environment who understands where you are is invaluable. The Bible reminds us that having a multitude of counsel is wise. Having other perspectives keeps us from relying on our view alone of a situation which might be biased or missing key alternatives.  Seeking help and resources from others who you trust doesn’t make you any less of a leader. It makes you a stronger one.

  • Are there areas in which you need to seek other perspectives?
  • Do you have a wide net of others whom you trust that can provide wisdom in certain areas?
  • What next step do you need to take?
