The simplest definition of leadership is influencing others to do something while working towards a common goal or agenda. In 2022, I’m focusing on becoming a better leader in all areas of my life. As I grow, I’m sharing lessons and stories along the way. Thanks for tuning in and I hope something I share resonates with you in your leadership (influence) journey.
At the end of 2021, I had the opportunity to participate in a leadership group with others in my profession. We were afforded the opportunity to reflect on our leadership style, characteristics and more. In the stillness of those moments, I realized I have tendencies to overwork to make sure all the tasks get checked off the list every single day. While it’s good to be a hard worker, it’s just as important to play hard. There must be a healthy balance.
I made a commitment to incorporate time for reflection and time to slow down. Enjoying the process is just as important as rushing to get the end result. I’ve scheduled weekly times for reflection to evaluate where I am and areas I want to work on. Whether you’re a business leader, a mom, a pastor or a student, consider setting aside time for reflection and time for play just as hard as you work.
