Behind the smile, clothes, briefcase, and purse, is a person who has a story. It may be filled with pain, addiction, trauma, loss or anxiety. The story may involve joy or even success. But everyone has a unique story—a life they are living—that affects their decisions and actions. If we remember this we might find ourselves being more compassionate, kind and empathetic as we seek to understand their perspective.
Imagine how different our communities and world could be if we realize everyone has a story. And what would happen if we took time to get to know the person and their story? Would we be so quick to judge or criticize? Would we be more loving and respectful? We all hold the power to be change agents by making an impact on those around us.
Will you take the challenge to slow down and see the real person? Will you listen to their story? Will you be the catalyst for change?
