I came across a quote that says, “When you think about stopping, think about why you started.” There are days when we are tempted to give up or stop short of the goal. But if you take a step back and remember why you started the journey in the first place, it usually brings you back to a place of motivation. Sometimes, you have to get re-centered and remove the distractions that have crept in and focus on the goal.
The other piece to the puzzle of not giving up is defining a clear “why” before you even start. Why do you want to do this? Why are you passionate about achieving this goal? What will this goal give you? These are all important questions you should be able to answer before starting any journey. Write down the answers and reflect on them often. This will keep you motivated when the journey gets difficult.
If you’re at the point of stopping or thinking about stopping, take a moment and go through this exercise. Clarify your “why” and get reinvigorated to keep going. It’s not time to give up!
