I woke up with the classic song from the musical “Annie”, in my head. It’s probably because they have been promoting the live performance like crazy. Ironically, the live performance airs tomorrow (Thursday). Then, maybe we can focus on something else.
It’s funny to me that we put so much focus on the future, that we sometimes devalue the present. I see this most often in retail stores. The second Halloween is over, many stores jump right to Christmas, as if November doesn’t even exist.
As a procrastinator extraordinaire, I am guilty of placing more value on tomorrow than I should. I read somewhere that procrastination is the arrogant assumption that God owes you another chance to do tomorrow what he gave you the chance to do today. Ouch and Amen. Lord, please forgive us.
As you open your eyes on this, the first day of the last month of 2021, I pray that you find yourself maximizing each moment. I think it’s great to have goals for 2022…but what can we do today towards accomplishing those goals? What can you do today that might make your tomorrow a little easier?
Sure, tomorrow is only a day away. But today is here now, and we ought to cherish it while we can.
