My Shot

It’s funny how some things can “live rent free” in our heads. One of the best known and beloved songs from the Hamilton musical is “My Shot”. And after spending today thinking about my First Sip teaser on “Tail Wagging” it only seemed appropriate that I spend a little time considering my “shots”.

See, I believe we get many opportunities throughout our lives to tap into our purpose. Some people find it early, some live a whole life in pursuit of it. Some people find it and run from or otherwise ignore it.

It’s the third one that scares the hell out of me.

Why do some of us run away from our purpose? Where does that instinct come from? The fear space, the killer of dreams.

I’d like to think that I’ve shot my shots when they have presented themselves, but there are quiet moments of reflection sometimes when I have to face myself and admit that, I too have turned and run before.

I am not sure I’m ready to share that tonight, but I am thinking about it so I suppose that’s progress of a sort.

Can you think of something you’ve run from that needs confronting? Find a quiet corner and start doing the work.
