“Good. Better. Best.
Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.” -Tim Duncan
Good, better, best are three levels of progression. Good is okay and is usually average performance. But once “good” is achieved, there’s another level of “better”. Once “better” is achieved, there’s another level of “best”. If we strive for better all the time, we will be in a constant state of learning, growth and evolving. It prevents us from becoming satisfied with the status quo. Being self motivated to bring our best selves to the table every day has the best results and rewards.
Have you ever been around someone who means well and has great intentions of completing a project but it just never seems to get done? They are quick to share what they can do or even will do, but the results are lacking? They never follow through on what they said. This happens when we are not self motivated to do our best. We settle for sub-par performance.
Take a moment and evaluate where you are. Are you operating in “good”, “better” or “best”? What step can you take today to go from good to better? What step can you take to go from better to best?
