Seasons

As I write this, I’m sitting in my car listening to the sound of rain. I prefer sunny and warm days but I know there’s purpose in rainy days. Rain washes and renews things. Rain freshens the air. Rain waters vegetation. Rain forms streams and rivers. Rain provides water for animals. Imagine if we never had rainy days. We would quickly find ourselves in a drought. Things would dry up. There wouldn’t be anything to eat.

It’s easy to complain about the current “season” of life you may find yourself in. Maybe you just lost a good friend, or your relationship ended in divorce. Maybe you’ve received a negative report from the doctor or your children are struggling in school. Maybe you were laid off from a job you enjoyed. Whatever the season, there’s something good or purpose in it. If we believe in God, He will reveal the purpose. Just as rain can cause inconveniences, slick roads, or even flooding at times, overall, the purpose is good.

Take a moment and think about your season of life. Is it a sunny season or rainy season? What are you supposed to learn or gain from it? How can this season prepare you for the next one?  No moment is ever wasted with God. No raindrop is ever wasted. Next time you find yourself caught in the rain, remember, it’s a season and it will soon change.
