A few years ago, my husband and I had tenants in our home. Because we were out of state, we hadn’t seen much of the house over the years. When the tenants moved out, we went to our house to find it completely trashed. We were shocked and upset. How could anyone not take care of something that didn’t belong to them? Common decency should tell you to return it in at least the same condition that it was given to you.
As I thought about the situation, the thought occurred to me that many of us do the same thing with our lives. God has created us with everything we need to live a great life—a sharp mind, creativity, health, finances, job, etc. He placed us where we need to be and told us to rule over the world…to take dominion and be fruitful (produce a harvest in our lives). Many of us misuse, don’t use or abuse what has been entrusted to us. Instead of enhancing our gifts, talents, abilities and skills, we squander them or make a mess of them.
- How are you taking care of something that really isn’t yours?
- Are you enjoying a fruitful life?
- Are there areas in your life that need reassessing?
