I’m gonna share something that has been on my heart for awhile now because I know someone else needs to hear it the way I did. Lean in good so you can get this little nugget.
“You can’t do everything on your own.”
Yeah, I know that made somebody flinch because I still fight the urge to do so myself. Trust me, I get it. I am a fiercely independent and self reliant personality type. I suspect that the independent part was imprinted on me from birth along with a generous helping of strong willed nature. The self reliance grew unchecked at one point of my journey to a place that nearly cost me my life.
We are meant to connect and be in relationship with others. This is true regardless of whether you wear the label of introvert or extrovert. We are all of us links in the chain of life. Many times the ties that bind us are good and healthy and sometimes they leave us open to hurt and anguish.
We can’t allow the hurt to turn us away from our human connections. Sixteen years ago I experienced one of the greatest pains of my life but by the grace of God and the help of my family and friends who would not let me go I made it back into the light.
One of the ways I began to work my way out of that dark time was to pick up my pen and write again. I had many failed attempts to get my rhythm back. It took me years to realize that I needed the support of a community to achieve my goal.
I had to learn to connect and trust again. So, I reached out to Coletta and Jared and Emily, Aíxa, Tish and my lovely Aunt Malinda and we made something beautiful that has grown into an amazing living chronicle over seven years of living and learning, loss and celebration. We, along with many others who came on board later, have witnessed and recorded events all over the world and marveled as humanity landed a drone on Mars.
While my writing buddies have rotated from time to time our connections remain ever loving and for me an essential centering force of my life.
And now, as we go boldly into the next phase of this whacky experiment I promise to hold to the mission of helping people who are gifted with glorious creative purpose to find a supportive and productive home with us. This community is and always will be designed to help you fit in time and space within your life to honor your creative gifts knowing that you have a community here that is cheering you on to the goals you wish to set for your work. TheWRITEaddiction, my first creative community baby, has several siblings coming up to keep her company with MGDigi, MGPress, DisruptED Solutions and a new merch line that you’ll be hearing more about later this year.
