This spring we planted a garden. We still have not seen any vegetables or fruit but we discovered a tomato plant growing behind the air conditioner unit. We clearly did not plant a tomato plant there but will reap the benefits of someone else’s labor. Perhaps a bird dropped the seed there or someone threw it over the fence and it landed there. Regardless of how it got there, the seed was planted in the dirt, laid down roots and began growing!
Many times, because of God’s grace and goodness towards us, we reap the benefits of someone else’s labor. We enjoy blessings we didn’t work for. This gentle reminder of God’s love and faithfulness to us is something we can hold on to especially in seasons where fear, anxiety, and angst try to grip us. We can relax and know that we will be taken care of. There are blessings all around us if we trust the Giver of the blessings.
Keep working towards your goals but also expect God’s bountiful blessings along the way.
What blessings have you reaped that you didn’t work for or expect?
Have you allowed yourself to fully trust God’s plan for your life?
What will your heart posture be the next time you receive a blessing that enters your life?
