I’m willing to bet that the end of Loki Season 1 on Disney+ left a lot of people scratching there heads. The BIG QUESTION being, “Who the heck is Kang the Conqueror”? I also know there is no shortage of Marvel Comics fans ready to baptize you all into this now essential education you’ll need as we progress into the Marvel Multiverse.
In a way, I slightly event those of you who are coming to know Kang for the first time now. Your vantage point won’t have the threads that those of us who grew up with Kang have tied around our image of The Conqueror but we are all in for a treat based on what I saw in the Loki Season finale. (Thank you, Jonathan!)
And for those who would like a little bit of grounding for the Kang to come, Disney+ can help. When I was thinking about the quickest way to onboard a new comer to this portion of the Marvel lexicon I rewatched the Kang episodes from Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (Animated Series).
Season 1 Episode 5 shows you the connection between Kang and Iron Man.
Later that season episodes 17, 18, and 19 dig into the conflict between Kang and the Avengers as both teams go on the offensive. We also get a glimpse into what moved Kang to begin the war.
Finally, in Season 2 Episode 28 we get a brief introduction to the Council of Kangs. A quick review of these episodes can help you jump onto the prediction bandwagon with the rest of us who are chomping at the bit to see what the MCU is about to do with the Jonathan Major’s Kang.
Go check out these episodes and come back to share your predictions in the comments about how Kang will be developed in the upcoming Marvel projects. If you don’t have Disney+ I’m sure Youtube will have some dedicated fans who will help tap you into some of this canon work (#NewRockstars is one of my favs).
Next week I think I’ll dig into the relationship between Kang and Ravonna because experiencing that as a child left me with a lot of BIG Questions.
