I remember the days of waiting for the perfect job…wanting to make a difference, using all of my gifts and skills, making a nice salary and enjoying the work environment. A year ago, I saw much of this come true. But the journey leading to it was uncomfortable and discouraging at times. There were many days I wondered if I would ever find the right fit but I remembered my dad’s words “stay the course”. I stayed faithful and did the best I could in all of my previous positions. One day, the door opened and I was ready to go through it.
Most times, we’ll find ourselves in a season of preparation before we walk into the manifestation of what we’re hoping for. The key is to remain, faithful, positive, teachable, humble and vigilant during the waiting season. Resist the urge to give up, move too soon or settle into patterns of mediocrity. If you’re not where you want to be, reflect on what you’re learning during this season. Keep moving forward and be ready when the opportunity presents itself.
