Everyone needs boundaries in his/her life. They protect us from harm and ensure we can thrive. Without boundaries, we become open to being used by others for their purposes without regard to our lives. God has entrusted each of us with unique gifts, talents and skills which bring the most return when they are properly stewarded. That means, we must take care and protect every gift, talent and skill with a healthy boundary.
Many of us do a decent job in thinking through the boundaries we need to put into place but we are much worse at actually keeping them. We must be consistent in adhering to the boundaries.
For example, taking care of your body is important if you want to live long and have a good quality of life. Some of the boundaries you might set are only eating certain foods, or exercising a few times each week or drinking plenty of water. If you don’t consistently follow those boundaries, your body may become run down and not fully functional.
What are some boundaries that are necessary for the goals you’ve set?
Health?
Finances?
Career?
Emotional well-being?
Relationships?
Today, take time to set some boundaries. And then make sure you follow through with them. Healthy boundaries position you to succeed.
