A few months ago, we started a family garden. We thought it would be a great teaching tool for our children and something fun we could engage in together. Although it’s taken weeks if planting, watering, watching and waiting, we are seeing a few watermelons and cucumbers. We’ve had our eyes on a baby watermelon that was the size of a grape. It grew to the size of a tangerine and was a nice green color. We continued to water it so it would grow as we anxiously awaited its delicious fruit. A couple days later the bottom started turning brown. And a day or two after that, the whole side was brown. We now have a rotten watermelon and no fruit that can be eaten.
How is it in life that we can seemingly be doing well and playing the part of having it all together until the bottom falls out? Something on the inside is rotten. Everything on the outside is beautiful and looks normal but something on the inside is eating us alive. Perhaps we’re wearing a mask that says everything is fine but deep inside, we know we are not whole. We are broken. We are missing some key ingredients. We are not right. And that’s okay if you’re in that place. Awareness is the first step to getting restored.
Today, my challenge for you is to take an introspective look and see if your inside matches your outside. Is it beautiful, whole, and restored? Or does it need tender, loving care to mend some broken places or to heal hurts? Does it need to get rid of bitterness or toxicity? Are there places that have been neglected?
The stronger your inside is, the stronger your outside can be. The world is waiting on your transformation! Are you ready?
