Many of us are still adjusting to this new life and trying to find balance. While you’re trying to sort things out, resist the urge to be perfect. Some days are just going to be different. Other days may be less than perfect. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Give yourself permission to be uncomfortable and unsure. Try new things but remain anchored in the fact that you will survive.
You don’t have to be the perfect employee, wife, mother, friend, teacher, dad, etc. Give yourself grace. Give grace to others too. Everyone is trying to figure things out.
When I’m running long races, my motto is “put one foot in front of the other”. If I can do that, I won’t quit and I will finish the race. Remind yourself when the kids are running around the house crazy trying to figure things out, to just put one foot in front of the other. When the work demands are still there, put one foot in front of the other. When you’re not sure if you’ll have a job next week, put one foot in front of the other. Just keep going.
Take a moment and breathe.
Relax.
Trust God.
Put one foot in front of the other.
Soon, you’ll look up and realize you crossed the finish line!
