Almost 6 years ago I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids and had surgery to remove them. Y’all know I’m a scientist, so I immediately began researching the cause of fibroids as soon as I was diagnosed. Yeah, scientific research articles and critically analyzing the research. I noticed that there isn’t much consensus on the cause or even natural treatment options. However, I took a deeper look in some studies that tried to show links with specific foods. It was then that I decided to stop eating pork and red meat. Actually, for a season – like maybe a year – I was what people would call vegan – at least in my food selections b/c I didn’t get all detailed with other products. I eventually reintroduced some meats and I do consume dairy occasionally, but I still haven’t had pork or red meat.

However, as I read more, I ended up looking deeper into products that we regularly use on our bodies. That led me to switching to natural deodorants, and after that to natural and/or reusable feminine products. Specifically, now there are so many more options for period products: cups/disks and reusable pads and tampons. For the more squeamish women, there are one-time-use pure cotton products that are still better than the traditional products that we were raised on. But all of this led me to plant-based feminine care that I first ran across in Whole Foods thanks to my bestie!!

THE HONEY POT.

It was a game changer for me. I no longer had to worry about the list of chemicals that my scientific training didn’t prepare me to pronounce on the back of the other bottles. Unfortunately, for the last 6 months or so, I could no longer find it in Whole Foods. I was thoroughly disappointed UNTIL TODAY!! I saw an article on a FB post that I won’t reference b/c it’s a bunch of BS, but I’m thankful that folks were critical b/c otherwise I probably would not have found out this information. The article was about negative responses from this video:

I found it again! I am not an avid Target shopper, but you better believe I will be making my way to my nearby Target ASAP!!
