Welcome to Level Up Monday! This week marks the passing of the Monday torch from Marta G to Dr. Marta and no, we are not the same person. Many years ago the Lord blessed my husband, Willyerd and I with our baby girl, Marta Gwyn Collier. Little did we know then that she would grow up to become our business partner in Marta Collier Educational Systems and Services (MCESS), LLC.

Born of a dream I first conceived in the back room of my husband’s law office in Savannah, Georgia, today MCESS provides seminars, webinars, workshops, coaching, training, curriculum and resources to support school readiness and excellence in young learners.  Serving both the formal and informal learning sectors, MCESS delivers standards-aligned, project-based learning solutions serving students Pre-K through 3rd grade that are adaptable to public, private and home school learning communities.  Our mission is to help unlock the genius in every child.

Those of you who know me probably could have guessed that after working as a school teacher and college professor for over 40 years in both the American South and Midwest that I wasn’t likely to stay retired long. Folks in my family really don’t know how to retire when the Lord blesses us with a calling. So, today I am pleased to announce that we have launched a new campaign to help me expand the reach of my services further than we ever have before.

The Ask Dr. Marta Podcast is a piece of a dream I have carried with me from my early days as a student at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.  After having spent the better part of my career teaching and training in early childhood education in Georgia, Iowa and Arkansas, I continue to have a driving passion to help parents of young children, and the educators who support them, access the resources they need to be great. In my work, I’ve found that many times folks don’t know where to start with their questions or they are hesitant to ask for help with how to support their child’s development. With your help, this podcast will be one of those safe spaces where people can come to get the help they need in raising up the next generation of brilliant young minds.
