I get frustrated when I see commercials and hear people around me talk about stuff. I’ve been caught up in the pursuit of stuff myself, but I’m working hard to reshape my thoughts on wealth and success. I want to own a home one day…actually multiple properties, so getting the latest iPhone or this season’s fashionable pieces or that new household gadget that I just HAVE to HAVE needs to leave my mind. I have to focus on my future goals right now.
In comes this article: https://www.curbed.com/2019/9/10/20852849/millennial-buy-a-home-homeownership-remote
“We’ve always been sold this American dream: go to college, get a degree, move to the city, make a career, and have kids. But it’s just not possible. Cities are just too expensive, and young people are saddled with school debt.”
This part hit me deep on the inside. It’s how I feel. My first 2 jobs after the long haul of obtaining my PhD barely covered the bills. I always felt like one wrong turn would leave me all the way underwater. Almost 9 years later and I am just now getting to a point where I can even save to think about home ownership…but there would be no hope if I was in a bigger city. Thankfully I am in an area where I can drive a few miles outside of the city and afford to buy a house. I’ve always been too afraid, well no I think it’s more like I just didn’t know, that buying houses across the country and managing from afar was an option. So, if you are like me, then check out this article and learn more about how young people are sliding into real estate…
You are welcome.
