Have you noticed how many times each day you get off course with distractions? Something pops up that needs our “immediate” attention. A headline on social media catches our attention. A discount offer in the mail requires action. The vehicle maintenance light comes on. The list goes on and on. It is a wonder that we can get anything done and move forward in the midst of endless distractions.
Everything is vying for our attention. We must decide what is important and weed the other things out. Prioritizing your life is essential if you want to move forward. Creating a to-do list doesn’t work for everyone, but it may prove helpful. I learned many years ago that there are many good things I can do, but not all are best things I can do. I have to decide if what is presented to me is essential and helpful for where I am going. Time is my most precious resource. Once it is gone, it cannot be regained. So I must use it wisely.
Consider these questions when trying to add order and priority to your life.
• What tasks do you know you MUST complete today?
• What tasks can be completed by the end of the week?
• What tasks are unnecessary?
• What tasks add value to your life?
• What tasks devalue you or take away precious time without reward or payoff?
Make wise decisions and be a great steward of your time. You will soon reap endless benefits.
