What song made you fall in love with music? What song reminds you of your first love? First heartbreak? Hypes you up? Calms you down? Leads you into worship?

There are a lot of reasons why I like the month of June. The beginning of summer. Father’s Day. A host of relatives birthdays. And of course my birthday (June 16th).

Another reason I like the month of June is Black Music Month. This celebration was initiated in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter. So much of what we hear today was inspired by the talents of African Americans. This is why I love to watch music biopics. You gain so much knowledge about the artist, their contributions to music, and how new innovations were made.

I often joke with my friends that I need a walking soundtrack in my life. You know what is about to happen when music is played in a pivotal scene on your favorite TV show or movie. How has music changed your life? What type of music do you love? What are you currently listening to now?
