Well, it’s Wednesday. My column is on Tuesday. What happened, you might be wondering? Well, Somehow I thought TODAY was Tuesday, well I knew it was Wednesday, but I also just KNEW it was Tuesday. That’s the best way that I can explain it. Yep! Big oops there! Blame it on Teacher Brain, which is a real thing. Look it up!
I guess it is good that I am blogging today, because my topic is better. It is on application of the Bible. See, this week my wife and I have started T:20, which is a workout by Beachbody that I’m convinced was conceived in the very depths of hell. Shaun T is smiling onscreen, while I have been steadily feeding him a diet of “Leave me alone, man!” as I move like a baby giraffe in my living room at 5 a.m.
This morning was especially hard. My alarm went off as usual, but I wanted to go back to sleep. The pull to keep snoring was hard to ignore, but I rolled out of bed. I got dressed and went to the front, while I waited on Tricia. I turned on my laptop and just did not feel like exercising. I was done.
Then a verse came to my mind. Philippians 4:13- “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” I said it out loud, but eventually that verse morphed. It became:
“I can do hard things through Christ who gives me strength.”
“I can do things that hurt right now through Christ who gives me strength.”
“I can do things while I’m bone tired through Christ who gives me strength.”
“I can do things while I’m crying through Christ who gives me strength.”
There were some more in there, but they escape me right now. All I know is that saying this verse out loud helped me. The workout was hard. it whooped me. I didn’t make it through every single exercise. I couldn’t move by the end of it, but I made it through. God had strengthened me. And it wasn’t based on a feeling. I didn’t feel victorious, but I had finished the workout. That is a victory, even as small as it might seem.
This is a simple case of application, but it matters. The Word is alive. It works in us when we put it to work in our lives.
Have a great day, folks!
You got it in! πππ½ππ½ππ½
