Speak Saturdays: No Rest for the Weary

Many of us have heard “no rest for the weary” which means you must keep persevering no matter how tired or overworked you are.  Well I am here to tell you to REST.  Tuesday I hit a wall like never before.  I was irritable.  I didn’t want anyone talking to me.  And every time the office phone rung I wanted to throw it.

Why was Neikeita so tired?  I am so glad you asked.  I’ve always worked two jobs.  It typically goes in cycles where I either have one job or two.  Right now I am working two jobs.  My full time job Monday through Friday and my part time job is on Saturday and Sunday.  The kid is literally working seven days a week.  Well Tuesday it dawned on me that since Black Friday, I’ve worked 36 hours and the week had just started.  I was fit to be tired and was in bed at 7:30 pm.  The rest was so needed.  And on Wednesday morning one of my devotionals talked about rest and not feeling guilty about it.  I was thankful to have a night of uninterrupted to sleep and waking up feeling refresh and not in pain.

Now you are probably when I am going to give up working two jobs.  My prayer is soon but I will ensure that I keep my plate at a non-full level so I can get the proper amount of sleep.

Happy Saturday!

Neikeita
