I had this great idea for a project I wanted to work on. I laid out the plan and set it into achievable goals. I put together the marketing pieces and waited for the magic to happen. I kept waiting and noticed things were not happening as quickly and falling into place as quickly as I had envisioned. The “magic” seemingly was not working. Disappointment and discouragement started to creep in. Then, I was reminded of the scripture in Matthew 7:7 that says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” My job is simply to ask, seek and knock. I don’t have to make anything happen or force any doors to open. Once I have done my part and have done what I know to do, the rest lies in God’s hands.
Have you found yourself trying to make something happen in your own power? Do you feel the stress and strain of trying to bring together all the pieces when you have exhausted your resources? There’s freedom in knowing you are not responsible for how or when it happens once you have asked, sought and knocked. We can rest knowing once we have taken our steps, God will work out the rest.
