So it’s Wednesday and if you haven’t heard this ridiculous song yet, consider yourself lucky. I have only heard the full song twice, but the online clips of people dancing to this song are everywhere. There are famous people, infamous people, and even innocent babies gyrating to this song. I’m not 100% sure I even know what this song is about, but I am pretty sure I don’t like it.
But…I, like Mr. Aubrey Graham, am also in my feelings. I am not singing about Keke, JT, or Resha, but I have emotions, too, and I feel like letting them out.
So here it goes: I am sad. Babies are crying at the border. The murder rate keeps climbing. Flint doesn’t Have clean water, and parts of Puerto Rico are still without power.
I am angry. Babies are crying at the border. The murder rate keeps climbing. Flint doesn’t Have clean water, and parts of Puerto Rico are still without power.
I am confused. Babies are crying at the border. The murder rate keeps climbing. Flint doesn’t Have clean water, and parts of Puerto Rico are still without power.
But there is more. I’m also happy and hopeful. Every day there’s a new hero, a new reason to believe that we shall overcome, a new reason to sing, and dance and enjoy my life… just like the folks in these ridiculous videos.
So while Drake and I definitely do not feel the same way about Keke and them, I do respect this emotional outburst and the viral videos it has sparked.
I especially love that it gives me the opportunity to dance out my own feelings, and burn a few calories, and for that reason alone, the song invokes another emotion… Appreciation.
