Growing up, I remember hearing older folk in my family say, “Chile, just run on and see what the end is gonna be.” As a child, I didn’t know exactly what they were saying and didn’t have the full implication of what they meant, but having lived a few years, I know what they were saying. It was encouragement not to give up. But to stay the course and to finish the race.
So many times, we find ourselves getting distracted and off course. We are tossed around under life’s storms to the point of quitting. But the old folks’ encouragement to us is to keep going. Keep persevering, Keep striving until you get your desired results. Their encouragement also implies there may be uncertainty about what the end will be, but our job is to keep running. We know nothing will happen if we stop. The Bible encourages us to keep going. Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” The good work that Christ started in our lives will continue until He returns. He never gives up on us and so we must not give up on ourselves either.
Is there a goal you were working towards that seems so far off now? Have you lost your stamina? Challenge yourself today to do ONE thing towards that goal. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, but something that allows you to keep moving forward. Resist the urge to stand still or retreat. “Run on and see what the end is gonna be!”
