The Running of the Tubs

I had another one of those Arkansas experiences this past weekend. When I first saw this event called “The Running of the Tubs” I had to ask someone what this was all about. There’s a special energy that pulsates up and down Bathhouse Row during this event that is contagious and that I encourage you to check out the Facebook page to see more of the amazing amazing tub creations from this and past years.

We were a bit tardy to the party because my other half drove in from Lubbock the night before but we made it nonetheless.

He was such a good sport to get up early after that long drive…

We did arrive in time to see several of the teams making their way back down to the ongoing festivities. Many were soaked and I was a bit envious of them because it was HOT outside!

I almost had a close encounter with this particular tub because the sidewalk was so crowded. Fortunately, I was able to duck out of the way of the cast iron handle just in time.

Then it was on to find breakfast. We made a valiant attempt to go to Colonial Pancake and Waffle but it was jam packed. We found the same thing at The Pancake Shop.

It was only 10am so we almost gave up hope of finding breakfast until we literally stumbled on Granny’s Kitchen.

And then as a special treat, I noticed these on the way out of the restaurant. My first thought, “I wonder if Hope has all of these in her collection”? 😂

Only in Arkansas, I tell ya. I am so looking forward to my next adventure!
