Transformative Thursdays: Finding the Good in a Detour

The other day, I was driving my normal route to the store and came upon a detour.  The road was blocked off and there was a detour route.  In that moment, I was a little frustrated that I couldn’t just go straight but had to weave through a subdivision to get to my street.  But in that same moment, I realized I would still get to my destination if I only followed the detour signs.
How many times in life have you come to a detour?  You were on track to complete a goal, an assignment, a project and then you see a detour.  The path becomes crooked and frustrating…maybe even a little scary.  It takes longer than what you had planned because of the detour.  However, if you continue to follow the detour path, you will still reach your goal.  You will still get to your destination.  Not only that, but you can make the choice to enjoy the scenic route.  You can enjoy and embrace the journey knowing you will still get there.
Next time you’re faced with a detour, don’t get discouraged.  Don’t give up or turn around.  Just stay the course and follow the signs. Take in the lessons you’re learning and be open to something new.
