Speaks Saturday: Do You Forgive?

Matthew 18:21-22 (NIV)

21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Matthew 18:21-22 are popular verses taught across many pulpits. It speaks on how many times a person should forgive their brother or sister through the parable or the Unmerciful Servant.

Forgiveness is something we all struggle with. We are taught to forgive one another each time someone sins against us. Sometimes it is easier said than done. I know personally I struggle with forgiveness but that is another topic for a different day.

My question for you today is do you easily forgive yourself? Do you offer yourself grace when you make a mistake? Do you wallow in self pity? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then I challenge you to learn how to forgive yourself.

We will all make mistakes. How we react to the mistake determines our greatness within ourselves.  We are to acknowledge that we have failed ourselves but what causes the pain and lack of self growth are the consistent self doubt and negative thoughts. This way of thinking hinders our ability to move forward.

Ask yourself if Jesus challenges us to consistently forgive one another then why wouldn’t he want us to do the same for ourselves.  He does it for us each and every time.

Happy Saturday. Hope my words speak to you today.
