People say this to each other, but do they really mean it?  Do they REALLY care if I have a happy new year or not?  Sometimes, when it is said to me, I want to respond with the following questions: Will it be a happy new year?”  What do we have to look forward to in 2018 that would be any different from 2017?    Why are you wishing that I have a happy new year?  You don’t even know me!!! WELL, THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR WHEN PEOPLE DON’T HAVE TO KNOW YOU TO WISH THAT YOUR INCOMING YEAR WILL BE A HAPPY ONE. Now, whether they are sincere or not is somewhat irrelevant.  The simple fact that it was said to you is enough to realize that your very existence has been acknowledge.  That someone who has never seen you before and will probably never see you again, for one moment in time cared, for a split second, that your future days would bring you joy.  That something in this new year will elevate you to a joyful level when those sad and dreary days come.  For one mi-nute milisecond, your future actually mattered to someone other than yourself.  So. . . in light of all that I have said . . . I WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR and I mean it.
