A BIT OF HISTORY:

Veteran’s Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919.  Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance.  November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.”

Veteran’s Day is an official United States public holiday that honors military veterans; that is, person who SERVED in the United States Armed Forces.”

“Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.”

“At 111 years old, Overton is a supercentenarian, staking claim to the title of being the oldest verified living WWII veteran and the oldest man in all 50 states.”

It may not be appropriate to say Happy Veteran’s Day in light of what these brave men and women went through and are still going through.  It is ALWAYS appropriate to THANK A VETERAN FOR THEIR SERVICE!
