“Veteran’s Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance. November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.”
“Veteran’s Day is an official United States public holiday that honors military veterans; that is, person who SERVED in the United States Armed Forces.”
“Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.”
“At 111 years old, Overton is a supercentenarian, staking claim to the title of being the oldest verified living WWII veteran and the oldest man in all 50 states.”
