Memorial Day is considered the start of summer. Kids are out of school. Family vacations are underway. And the BBQ grills are fired up.
As I enjoy this lazy evening watching movies with friends, I can’t help but reflect on the meaning of this holiday. I recall the time I was able to visit the Arlington National Cemetery. The time you had to reflect on the lives that were lost for our freedom is very humbling. Many people don’t realize the sacrifices that these men and women made in combat. The pain the family feels hearing they have lost a love one. I understand the fear of hearing a love one going into war. I haven’t experienced lost but I can empathize with those families who loves are buried there.
Hopefully you took a moment of reflection on this beautiful day to honor those who fought for us.
