Dusting Off My Pages of Life

I took a trip back to my college years this weekend when I pulled out this album. I hadn’t heard many of these songs in years but our reunion was sweet. It’s amazing how some things can imprint in you in a powerful and lasting way.

I also think it is interesting how my life experiences since that time have colored my connection to these lyrics. Songs like Your Love…

It goes beyond all knowledge (your love)

Anything I’ve ever known (your love)

Bearing what I never could (your love)

Paid what I owed (your love)

Covering my darkest side (your love)

Unconditional it remains (your love)

Forever it purifies (your love)

They say that love is given to…

The more we know about each other the more love we exchange

But how can this be?

Cause before I knew who you are

You were loving me

And a love like this is so hard to describe.

I know the story of the gift you gave to man

And as we walk together

I would never understand

It would take a million lifetimes

To perceive the love that you have for my life

A love like this is really hard to describe

[Bridge]

What kind

What kind of love is this?

Beyond anything I’ve known

No other love, no other love

No other.

I am grateful that these are the kinds of songs that were planted in my spirit because I know I’ve drawn in these messages during my darkest hours. Music can be such a powerful tool for good especially when it pulls from a place of hope and love.

I encourage you to pull out your old music stash and see how your appreciation of some song may have evolved with time.
