When a pebble is dropped into the water, the ripples flow from the middle to the outside. A large splash in the middle of a lake, the ripples move from the center to the shore. This is a powerful metaphor to use when attempting to explain that there is no such truth in saying, I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT TO DO AND IT WANT HURT ANYBODY. I would tell my son that his actions will affect me and anyone else connected to him so he should think before he acted. It is my desire never to bring shame or disgrace on my family name, family, or friends. Some folks don’t care and yet they should because “no man is a Island.” WE are that pebble causing the ripple.
Whether alone or in the company of others, our actions affect those around us. We are connected to those around us. When someone we love experiences something joyful, those that love that individual share the joy like that ripple from the center, the person the wonderful thing happened to, to the shore, where those that care are. The same applies for grief. Sadness from the center to the shore. Good or bad, happy or sad, emotions and actions like ripples in the water reaches all of us. So strive to create happy ripples. WE are that pebble causing the ripple.
