My kids aren’t getting any Hatchimals, or those sneakers that cost two hundred dollars. There are no name brand clothes under the tree.
I want my children to know that the only Christmas gift that ever mattered was not neatly tied with a bow, but instead was wrapped in strips of cloth. The most important Christmas gift was love personified.
So yes, I procrastinated, and didn’t get them everything, or anything, they asked for. Sure, the stockings are haphazardly hung near the fire place, and my table decoration is a too small table cloth that came from the dollar store. But this house is filled with love and it’s the greatest gift any of us can give.
Don’t worry. There are a couple of packages under the tree for them to open. But unlike those things, love will always be in style, the batteries will never run out, and in its purest form, it is indestructable,
