All I can do
Is what I can do
One day at a time

We hear SO MANY DIFFERENT SAYINGS and recite SO MANY DIFFERENT SAYINGS to ourselves. Some are helpful but most do not apply. As for me, this affirmation was born many years ago.
Working in stressful situations causes many of us to fall ill. Once this happens, we fall even FURTHER behind in our ALREADY ridiculous work schedule. Unfortunately, it takes an act of illness sometimes to help us get things back into perspective. I experienced a bout of Bells Palsy and it scared the crap out of me. Can you possible imagine being a young person standing before your mirror, brushing your teeth, preparing for the day, while watching your face slowly draw up on one side? You are unable to speak or keep liquids in your mouth. Of course you can’t imagine this because you are a super person and you always keep everything evenly balanced in your life. Well, my life is better now, but there are some days when that memory is sent quickly to the front of my brain when I begin on the path of insanity again.
Time is precious and we have an unknown amount of time to accomplish a laundry list of things, but I challenge you, my friends, to step back and realize that YOU are not the one who CONTROLS that time. According to our modern scientist, there are 24 hours in one day. Broken down there are 8 hours to work, 8 hours to sleep, and 8 hours for ‘whatever’ else we want to do. MOST of us eliminate the 8 hours of sleep and take what is called “power naps.” Yeah, right!!! Work takes over the majority of that 24 hour period. When you are younger and have fewer responsibilities, ‘whatever’ takes up most of the 24 hours and work will get 4 to 8 hours in that day. No matter what category you fall into, you must understand that YOU CAN’T DO IT ALL IN A 24 HOUR DAY!!!
I have concluded that I will continue to give my best during my work hours but when those work hours are over, I AM DONE FOR THAT DAY. I did ALL that I could do during those required hours of work and whatever did not get done will either get done the next day or get done by the next person coming on shift. Unfortunately in my case the work is usually waiting for me the next day but that’s okay because the same affirmation applies. ALL I CAN DO, IS WHAT I CAN DO, ONE DAY AT A TIME! You are welcome to incorporate this into your personal affirmations. Have a fabulous FUNKADELIC FRIDAY!!!
