Have you ever had a task to complete that you knew would take a lot of hard work, dedication, time, and effort, but you knew you had to get done?
That’s what happened to me this morning. I had a plan to do 10.5 miles at a local state park. Yesterday I did a four hour training clinic where we did lots of running drills and strength training. So this morning I woke up tired, still a little sleepy, but mostly just sore and stiff. Usually, I can do a mile or so and loosen up and then stretch. However, even after 3 miles, my body felt like it was not loosening up at all. I wasn’t in pain just a little soreness. But I kept pressing on because I knew what my goal was.
This morning reminded me of the accounts of Jesus on the cross. He knew the road to redemption for us was going to be hard but he knew it had to be done. Even before that journey started he asked God to take the cup from him but then he said that your will not mine be done. Even on the cross he pray for others and when he was done he said it is finished.
It is finished! It is finished. Oh the joyous feeling that rests upon you when the task that you sent out to complete is finished! It gives you such a feeling of accomplishment. To complete a task is worth the pain. It’s worth the sacrifice. It’s worth it all.
Yeah and those 10.5 miles…
It is FINISHED!
Congratulations on finishing.
