Our fearless leaders has issued us another wonderful challenge. This week we are to speak about joy. Now when I first was “reminded” of the challenge this week I thought this will be easy and I started thinking some more…………this is not going to be so easy.
I have a tendency to think of the negative aspects of things. Not a healthy thing to but I am working on it. Let’s talk about my past weekend. Thursday morning I woke up congested and feeling awful but made it to work in order to complete payroll. Friday was feeling the same way and finally went to the doctor. Saturday had a four hour trip that turned into 14 hours because of a flat tire.
Now when look back on this past weekend and reflect on things I can see the joy in all the craziness:
- I was able to get my happy shot to make me feel better and the doctor realized that my voice was not my own. How he said it was hilarious to me. (But I do need another happy shot).
- I had enough energy to spend time with the teenagers and how these interact with one another is quite interesting. My age is starting to show.
- While we were stranded on the side of the interstate, I got a great photo opportunity to laugh about as the days come. I am quite sure the police officer was so confused by the selfie we were taking.
- The nice gentlemen at the tire shop who had crazy stories to tell us as dealt with poor customer service.
Thank you Marta for this challenge. It is an awesome reminder that we should see the silver lining in all things. I’m reminded of James 1:2-3: Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
