One day while I was along with my thoughts this question came to mind: “If your life didn’t change anymore for this moment on, would you be content?”
The Merriam – Webster dictionary defines contentment as the state of being happy and satisfied. The Bible speaks of contentment as having satisfaction in what we have, who are are, and where we’re going. There are several bible scriptures that speak to contentment:
- Matthew 6:25-26
- Matthew 6:32-33
- 2 Corinthians 11:23 – 25
- Philippians 4:12 – 13
- Hebrews 13:5
- 1 Timothy 6:6-7
- Luke 12:15
- 2 Corinthians 12:10
- 1 Timothy 6:10-11
As I ponder this question myself I knew immediately my answer would be yes and no. I believe this question popped in my head for me to do a self examination of my life. I need to take time for self – reflection on my health, career, family, relationships and my own personal relationship with the Lord. We should all strive for contentment. And we should strive to always better ourselves. What we have to keep in check is the motivation behind the changes we want to make with our lives. Are we making these changes to better ourselves to be a blessings to other? Or are we making changes to make a point to someone who has pissed us off?
Making changes in life doesn’t always come easy. And making changes won’t always give you the sense of contentment. Learn how to be happy at the place you are at now.
