Over the last few days, I’ve spent some time “decluttering” my life. I’ve spent more time in study/meditation of the Word and enjoyed more quiet time with the Lord. I’ve also lessened my time on social media which has become an unnecessary distraction at times. I can easily spend 20 minutes scrolling through my newsfeed rather than spending those 20 minutes with my children, spouse, studying, reading or other activities. Don’t get me wrong—social media has its place but it can quickly become addictive and add clutter to your life. Over the last few days, I’ve refocused my attention on more lasting things—like self improvement, hearing direction from God, reflecting on where I am in life and other things. It’s been a cleansing time.
I would encourage you to do the same. If your thing isn’t social media, it may be work that you can’t leave at work, or friends that take all your attention, or a bad relationship that is draining you. Whatever it is, remove it or them and declutter your life. Get rid of the junk that takes up space you need to move forward into God’s best. Cleanse your soul (mind, will, emotions) and body. Take some time to truly get quiet and silent before God and make 2016 your BEST year yet!
