Sundays with Stassi: Single. Satisfied.

PART 1 | PART 2 PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5 | PART 6

As a single woman in the beginning of my 30s, I often hear questions related to my dating life…or lack there of…Every time I see grandma she makes sure she slides in some comment about me meeting a nice young man regardless of the conversation. I wonder if guys my age have to endure these same conversations…

Usually I want to scream out loud: YES, I AM STILL SINGLE! NO, I DON’T NEED A MAN. YES, I DESIRE TO BE MARRIED ONE DAY HOWEVER I AM OK IN MY CURRENT SITUATION. Unfortunately, I know that is not proper, lady-like behavior so I just endure those conversations like a G with a smile on my face. Silently, I amuse myself because the main people who have those talks with me are…single…so usually while he/she is talking to me my mind dreams up all sorts of reasons as to why he/she is still single at his/her age.

Recently I embarked upon a bible reading plan based on a book called “The Dating Manifesto,” which has me evaluating: Am I marriageable? At first glance you may think that question implies that there must be something wrong with me which explains my singleness. However, I see this question as a way to evaluate my current walk with the Lord and what I am doing in my life. Maybe some of the questions that I asked myself will help you too…

Are you “still single?” Are you marriageable?

1. Are you in a happy place in life?

2. How is your relationship with God?

3. Are you connected to a local church? Are you serving/working in ministry?

4. Do you know who you are? Your strengths? Your weaknesses?

5. Do you know the characteristics that are important to you in a mate?

Single. Satisfied.
