Back Down Memory Lane

This week is all about reflection as The Write Addiction staff celebrates our 6 month anniversary!  This project is something that I’d had on my mind to do for quite awhile but it didn’t really come to life until the very first crew all agreed to accept the challenge. We started off with Jared, Sunniva, Emily, Coletta Malinda, Aixa, Tish and myself as the regular cast. While a few people have rotated on and off we have not missed a single day of blogging in 6 months. That is so cool to me and really showcases the power of teamwork.  You all have helped me to realize a dream. I love to create opportunities for others to take action on the things that they are passionate about and what to see happen. I’m a fan of “Don’t talk about it, be about it.”  And guess what, WE DID IT!

In looking back over all of my posts, I think my favorite one was from November called Sign of My Times.  This piece challenged me because that was the week we had to mash up other established literary works to make something new. I composed a piece using only song titles from top charting songs for the 1980s. If you think that was easy, you try it! You can view the original entry here:

While I wish we had a much higher readership (and I know I speak for all of us here) it is far more important that we TWAers keep the promise to ourselves to do what we are. We are writers, storytellers. And we would be that even if we never had readers. But with all the other stuff that’s floating out there that people don’t put a lot of care and effort into, we really would appreciate it if our collective Facebook friends would spare a little time out of their social media days to read what we’re working on and give us some constructive feedback.  I mean, that’s what friends are for, right?

  1. Thank you for sharing this Marta. I am trying to decide which one I want to use. I appreciate this outlet and I do believe that it is improving my writing skills.
