Here I am, tasked with posting a blog the morning after the longest (and nastiest) election season in recent history. By the time you read this, (hopefully) America will have selected it’s next president. I will have to work for whomever is elected.
As I am writing, the polls are open… And I keep thinking, “it’ll be all over in the morning.”
But will it?
This election has changed the way we look at politics, and sadly it has changed the way some of us look at each other.
We cannot erase what we have seen this year. There is no amount of soap that can wash away the stain that was the 2016 election year. The whole country is doing the walk of shame.
Ick!
It’s the morning after and the world is watching. They’ve been watching the whole time and if their judgmental stares were not enough, there’s more. Just around the corner, are our children, the people who will be most impacted by our wreck less behavior.
But the children, God bless them, do not have the same look of disgust in their eyes. The babies, God bless them, are just glad to see us. They are hopeful as ever. And it’s up to us to not let them down.
So whatever happened last night doesn’t matter. Today’s a new day.
Thank God.
