Yesterday, we had a conversation with our ten and eight year old with the topic of “what would you do, where would you go or what would you buy if you had no limits”.  One of them started saying how she would fly on a plane to Hawaii and my husband stopped her and said, “You mean, you don’t have your own plane…remember, you have no limits”.  This continued for a few minutes with them suggesting things they would like to buy, places they would like to go and things they would like to do.  Amazingly, even at age 10 and 8, they had already been conditioned by society, family, the media and whoever else, that they could only do or have certain things.  They had been placed in a box and it took effort to remind themselves that they could do more and have more.

My wheels started turning wondering how many people have placed themselves in a box or allowed someone else to place them in a box.  Who said you couldn’t go there?  Who said you couldn’t get that job?  Who said you couldn’t go back to school?  Who said you couldn’t own that business?  Who said you have to ride in someone else’s plane?  Who made the rules that we follow and accept?  Have we allowed others to control us by placing us in a box with limits?  We have subconsciously accepted the status quo and settle for mediocrity.  We have been led to believe others can achieve their dreams, but for whatever reason, we cannot achieve ours.

Let me remind you as I reminded my girls and myself, that you have no limits.  Our God has an unlimited supply of whatever you need.  He created this whole universe and is waiting to lavish us with the desires of our hearts.  It is no problem for Him to orchestrate your path so that you own that business or buy that airplane or patent a million dollar idea.  He created you to do just that.  If we simply follow the instructions He gives us on a daily basis, we will live outside of the box.  Day by day and step by step, we will do things that seem impossible to others.  On the flip side of that, if we don’t follow His instructions, we place ourselves in a box and keep ourselves from believing we can have it.  When we stop believing we can have it, we stop going after it.  When we stop going after it, we get stuck in a box.  When we get stuck in a box, we stop living.  When we stop living, we die or only exist.

Don’t settle for merely existing.  Get yourself out of the box.  Take the limits off and begin to work towards your dreams.  Once you believe you can achieve it, God will give you a plan to bring it to fruition.  Work the plan and let yourself out of the box!
