This week I’m choosing to share about an important life lesson that has recently become more evident. People cross our paths for various reasons and seasons in our lives. God intersects us with people at unique times when we need those particular people in our environment. We may grow together and become close or share good/bad times together but then life happens and that season ends. Maybe we move or change jobs or we just get busy or grow apart. Whatever the case, it’s tempting to hold on to those relationships and experiences although life has changed the circumstances. It’s natural to want to reminisce and become stuck with what is now a memory.
But sometimes it’s meant for us to leave those relationships and make room for something new. Many times those past relationships may have been to get us through a particular situation or for us to learn something. If we continue to make those relationships work when the season is over, (or force a round peg in a square hole) it will only lead to frustration, anxiety and unnecessary confusion. It is freeing to release and let go of the past. When we do, we open ourselves up to receive what the next season has for us. We become ready to receive what we need for this season of life. Challenge yourself to let go of the past and those relationships that no longer have meaning or substance in your life. Make room for new friends, acquaintances, coworkers and others and experience the satisfaction that comes with embracing a new season.
