A few days ago, I was backing out of the garage and ran into the side of it, cracking my side-view mirror. I also hit it so hard that it bent the mirror and shifted it to a new position. The good news is my mirror is still attached to my door. The bad news is because it was knocked into a different position, it’s pretty unusable.

I’ve come to rely on that mirror for years–helping me see what’s next to me and making sure I don’t hit someone. Now that the mirror isn’t available I realize how much I depended and needed that mirror. I can still drive and navigate pretty well without it but it takes more effort on my part.

God has given us “side mirrors” to help us navigate through life. These side mirrors are the Word of God, prayer, Christian friends/accountability partners, supportive family, Godly mentors and others. Without these aids in place in your life, you will have difficulty and you will be frustrated. It’s much better to take the time to ensure you have effective side mirrors in your life and that you use each of them wisely. They can prevent you from having a wreck.
