As we continue on our journey of superheroes, I decided to pay tribute to the hero within each of us.  It’s difficult to think of ourselves as heroes/she-roes, because it almost feels like we are putting ourselves on a pedestal.  However, we were all created with a hero within us.  We have a unique assignment on this earth other than merely taking up oxygen.  We have abilities, gifts and talents that will lead us to fulfillment if we have the courage to use them.  At the end of our lives, we will give an account for these abilities that we have and whether or not we used them.  The hero within pushes us to use these talents and gifts and forces us outside of our comfort zone.  Heroes often get recognition for just being themselves–doing things that they were placed on earth to do.  Ironically, they receive accolades and recognition when they don’t seek it.  Heroes are willing to go the extra mile without being told, step out of the comfortable to the uncomfortable, forge new bridges, become pacesetters and help others along the way.  They are quite familiar with failure and see their weaknesses, but are not limited by them.  They use weaknesses as stepping stones and keep trying until they succeed.  In this light, we are all heroes.  The hero within us longs to put on the red cape and jump into the unknown.  The hero within us wants to jump out of the box of limitations and embrace a brave new world.  The hero within us is bigger than you.  He/She is bigger than me. It’s our responsibility and duty to let our superhero “seize the day” so we can fly!
