Stephanie Burgess

Once upon a time, I dreamed of being able just to write stories for people to escape from. It didn’t matter to me if I became wealthy off my writing, I just wanted to write. Today, I’ve written four novels, and I’ve penned several poems, short stories along with teaching others to do the same. I’m honored to share my talents with you and look forward to hearing from you.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, 1995 from the University of Arkansas, and I’m currently working on my MBA from the University of Phoenix. I’ve taught and tutored literacy, test prep skills and strategies, formal, academic, writing and creative writing.

I have two daughters, in whom I’m very proud of: Mercedes, 16 and Nakira, 10. I’m an avid lover of the arts, movies, music and sports.

Here at The Write Addiction I am sharing a preview of one of my books, “The Man In My Dreams” and other projects of interests and I would LOVE your feedback (and for you to buy the book at  🙂

It’s Never Too Late

Meredith Carter never thought she’d fall for a guy she met online, but that was before she met Bernard Donaldson.  There chemistry is powerful and though they’ve never met in person they’ve talked and video chatted the night away. She just can’t shake the feeling that there’s something important that she’s keeping from her, a deeply guarded secret that might stand in the way of their happily ever after.

The Man In My Dreams

Carmen Sinclair is having dreams about a man she doesn’t know. She’s confused about the love that she cannot find, or she’s really ever known.  A past love, Paul Braxton, returns making Carmen believe that her dreams are truly deferred, and she learns to love who she believes is truly for her.  But with tragedy, Carmen finds that her friendship she’s built with Ryan Harris may ultimately bring her closer to those dreams that continually haunt her.

Caught My Eye

Toni Sheridan is a hard working up and coming attorney for the Sinclair Corporation; she believes in love, she believes in intrigue and mystery, but she never believed she’d be the one who becomes part of the mystery. Kenneth Anderson is past mysterious and doesn’t play by the normal rules, yet when it comes to Toni, he doesn’t understand why, suddenly, his rules have to change. With intrigue, espionage and everything else in between, these two people find that love does win and for them, their love, is possible because in the end they learn about love, family, trust, and loyalty.

More about Stephanie Burgess…

Interest: I think this is a great platform to share my stories and ideas and keeps me accountable about my writing!

Location: Orlando, FL

Favorite Author/Book: I have a million, but the “Divergent” series by Veronica Roth, and the “Unwind” series by Neal Shusterman are my favorite at the moment. But I read everything, I usually know by the 3rd chapter if the story is worth my time.

My Earliest Memory of Wanting to Write: I’ve always been a writer! At the age of 10, I won my first writing contest; it was an essay about the importance of Martin Luther King, Jr. in today’s time. If I could find that essay, I would post it. I find it very timely in today’s times. I remember my classmates saying to me, “So you gon make money telling stories?” I think that’s funny now because although I don’t make a lot of money, but to me I don’t care. It’s not about how much money I make; it’s about the stories I share.

Why Is Making Time To Write Important?: To me, it allows me to get frustrations down on paper. I really enjoy writing, it, at times, allows me to be able to share my thoughts because I’m not always clear in my speech; especially, when it comes to just speaking my thoughts I find it easier to write it down. I’m old fashioned, I still write handwritten letters, and mail them, and I think I may be keeping the post office in business.

The First Thing I Think About When I Wake Up Is: Writing & sharing my ideas. Right now, I’m working on my 5th novel! I’m so excited by this because it is a story about a woman who finds herself in and out of love, but it’s about healing. Love heals, it hurts, but it is endearing. I hope to be able to teach writing techniques and skills to young writers because it’s a tough, but a lost art….
